Plaza Home Mortgage, Inc., a national wholesale mortgage company headquartered in San Diego, California, has an opportunity for a full-time Senior Accountant with our San Diego, California Corporate Office.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB AND CONTRIBUTION TO ORGANIZATION:
To perform assigned oversight and reconciliation of servicing/investor accounting activities, complete assigned entries and uploads to the accounting system and perform assigned general ledger account reconciliations.
 
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Must comply with all BSA/AML requirements as well as any mandatory changes. The following job functions are not all-inclusive.  The associate will be required to perform other job-related tasks/responsibilities requested by the manager.  Job duties may change as required by needs of company. Must complete all required industry and compliance training as required by Plaza Home Mortgage.
  1. Monitor month end closing and ensure appropriate g/l entries and subsystem closing is complete. 
  2. Follow up on items needed from various departments and personnel to ensure timely, accurate closing.
  3. Complete timely, accurate preparation, review, and analysis of monthly financial statements.
  4. Fixed asset system maintenance and reconciliation
  5. Timely, accurate processing and filing of business property tax and other business tax and license requests.
  6. Complete timely accurate processing of assigned journal entries, account reconciliations, and subsystem entries.
  7. Compile data for audits and state exams.
  8. Reconcile, research, and analyze balance sheet accounts as assigned.
  9. Assist in writing and updating accounting procedures as needed.
  10. Additional responsibilities as assigned.



Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA in Accounting and 3+ years accounting experience
  • Accounting software, advanced Excel, proficient in other Microsoft office programs: knowledge of LPS/Black Knight or other Mortgage Investor Accounting System desired
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to consistently prioritize and produce accurate work within set deadlines required
  • Ability to manage time and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
