Plaza Home Mortgage, Inc., a national mortgage company headquartered in San Diego, California, has an excellent opportunity for a Closing Manager position with our (JAX) Jacksonville, FL Branch office.

 
Plaza Home Mortgage, Inc. was originally founded in December of 2000 to serve the San Diego area mortgage market. Due to our growth and success, we now have branches throughout the United States and we are continuing to grow and expand in anticipation of market demands. Plaza is privately owned and operates as a full service Mortgage Banker. We originate mortgage loans on both a wholesale and correspondent basis.
  


PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB AND CONTRIBUTION TO ORGANIZATION:


The Closing Manager is responsible for overseeing the closing process in the regional loan center as well as the daily management of the Closing department staff and processes.
                                                                   
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Must comply with all BSA/AML requirements as well as any mandatory changes. The following job functions are not all-inclusive. The associate will be required to perform other job-related tasks/responsibilities requested by the manager.  Job duties may change as required by needs of company.  Must complete all required industry and compliance training as required by Plaza Home Mortgage.
1.  Head the closing/funding department of the regional operations center by overseeing the preparation of closing documents and the funding of loans.
2.  Work directly with closers, doc drawers, and/or funders by providing training and daily support.
3.  Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of closers, doc drawers, and/or funders.
4.  Motivate and coach closers, doc drawers, and/or funders in achieving branch goals.
5.  Monitor reports for the purpose of identifying positive and negative trends in productivity within the Closing department.
   6.  Manage pipeline to substantiate loans are closing within the expected turn-times. Review loans that are cleared-to-close and ready for closing documents to be prepared.               
7. Ensure closing department adheres to all Plaza’s Policy & Procedures, and that loans are processed in compliance with all State and Federal regulations.
8. Engage in verbal and written communication with title companies, closing agents and clients.
9. Effectively communicate to the Closing department about company changes to policy an procedures.
10. Act as closing and funding resource for the branch.
11. Verify that all closing associates send follow-up documentation to corporate departments if requested.
12. Support the Assistant Vice President and the Underwriting department as required.
13. Supervise daily preparation of collateral package to be shipped to warehouse bank or custodian.
14. Assist Post Funding department with outstanding document requests.
  15.  Help with closing/funding overflow as needed, and complete all tasks required by Closer/Doc Drawer or Funder.
  16.  Provide guidance to Closing Team Leads regarding how to properly manage their teams.
  17.  Participate in developing process improvements and efficiencies as an ongoing best practice.
  18.  Conduct periodic loan-level audits to ensure compliance with all company quality standards.
  19.  Report productivity and departmental errors on monthly basis to the Assistant Vice President.
  20.  Assess and evaluate closer scorecard for efficiency gains; instruct team members when  required.
  21. Coach closing team regularly regarding their job performance and complete annual           performance reviews by due date.
  22. Lead, guide, mentor, and train entire closing department.
  23. Complete Time Cards and meet Payroll Deadlines.
  24. Work with Assistant Vice President on setting monthly goals.
  25. Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; College degree preferred
  • Previous team lead, supervisory, or commensurate experience desired
  • Current closing experience in the mortgage industry is a must
  • Working knowledge of loan program products, services, and policies
  • Ability to understand and make recommended changes to standard operating procedures
  • Possess working knowledge of RESPA and other federal, state, and industry compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of paperless file environment and image software repository
  • Experience with Loan Origination Systems (LOS) such as Calyx Point and Ellie Mae
  • Skilled in Document Preparation Software such as DocuTech or DocMagic
  • Proficiency with computer systems including MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Internet, browsers, and email functions required
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Demonstrated skill in monitoring and overseeing loan production pipeline
  • Ability to efficiently and consistently produce accurate work
  • Solid organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Capability of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment with heavy volume of transactions
